Shoot the Messenger: Espionage, Murder, & Pegasus Spyware

For PRX, Exile Content, and the Committee to Protect Journalists, this serialized investigation examines the assassination of U.S.-based Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. The series exposes the role of NSO Group’s Pegasus software in tracking his inner circle prior to his murder, and reveals the growing threat of surveillance to people, journalists, and activists across the globe. I assisted the co-hosts with pre-launch show development.

Intrigue: The Immortals

Over the last hundred years, we’ve seen global life expectancy double. Could it happen again? In The Immortals, technology reporter and psychologist Aleks Krotoski explores the extreme frontiers of longevity science, and the Silicon Valley billionaires working to overcome aging and even death. My role was to edit and mix a combination of episodes into an hourlong special for radio broadcast in the UK.

Queen of the Con

For iHeart Media. A reality TV producer embarks on a quest for justice after falling victim to a fraud, perpetrated by a glamorous Irish heiress… who turns out to be neither Irish nor an heiress. Using sound effects and dramatized recreations, this nonfiction story unfolds in a quirky, lighthearted style. My role was to score the show and build its immersive soundscapes.

This series from FX Networks explores the story behind The Journalist and the Murderer, Janet Malcolm’s seminal work on the ethics and behaviors of nonfiction writers. The show uses never-before-heard tapes of Malcolm’s interviews with true crime author Joe McGinniss and convicted murderer Jeffrey MacDonald. In this series from Endeavor Audio, conflict journalist Christof Putzel struggles to cover Omar Hammami, an American-born terrorist leader living in Somalia. It’s a career-making story with huge national security implications, but Putzel develops an uncomfortable friendship with his subject and feels indebted to Hammami’s family in Alabama. This podcast features the voice of the late journalist and filmmaker Brent Renaud, who was the show’s senior producer.
