Zach Hirsch is an award-winning journalist and audio producer based in Brooklyn, NY. This year he launched a podcast about far-right extremism in upstate New York called If All Else Fails; the show was recommended by The New Yorker and was featured nationally on NPR and WNYC. A previous reporting project — a yearlong public radio series on Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) — received honors from SPJ, RTDNA, and PMJA.
Hirsch studied Cultural Anthropology and hosted his first radio show at the University of Vermont before attending the Transom Story Workshop, a residential audio program in Woods Hole, MA. He then worked as a staff reporter-producer at North Country Public Radio for five years before moving to NYC. He is currently available for print and audio reporting projects, fact checking, field recording, sound design, and series development.
